Colby Garrett Cerulia makes an impressive display in this album. Out of their two albums this is by far my favorite. It falls on a level of it's own somewhere in a mythical land of space-prog-rockopera awesomeness that manages to encompass historcial-religious lore in a way that makes you feel like you're listening to a retelling of the past. Favorite track: Nanabozho.

The Tree 03:43
The Tree Zedekiah: “At the pool from which I drank Surrounding the roots from which this cursed life came I’ll cut down this branch And craft my instrument And you shall know me All shall know me by my melody For you the sun shall not rise I am the shroud across your eyes And it will be said That this is the end With every breath that passes throughout this pipe I can refashion all within my sight From the depths below To the stars above I call you beasts Spoken of old Gather before you master And await my command Feed on the hopes and dreams of every living thing ‘Til nothing good endures And all my plans are sure And when they have no more you will crush them Blood, blood everywhere And from every drop you must drink We’ll fall from the sky As sulfurous streams of light ‘Til all the air Is too thick to bear”
2.
Nanabozho 04:42
Nanabozho Zedekiah: “The icy teeth of winter that cut my flesh no more Are frightened of me When did I become something nature feared? Who are you that is ever with me? From whence did you come? Do not hide your face any longer Show me what you are!” Nanabozho: “I am the morning star that has fallen to the earth I took life from the light and planted it in the dirt For you So you might be a god But he who fashioned the seed Would not let this be So he struck you down to your knees With your dreams I am the morning star that has fallen to the earth I sought to give you what should be yours Life everlasting All the riches of the world for taking No pain of hunger, want, or death Would your loves had known Had he ever loved you Our time is now We must rise up as a mighty steed And trample His beloved under our feet So that He will never again be loved by the living And we will stand strong in defiance of his name RISE!”
3.
Nan's Wrath 03:29
Nan’s Wrath Nanabozho: “The Stage is set The pawns take their places as I circle once more Death awaits them Hell will take those that are not His I am the Reaper! I will wipe their race off of the earth O how I despise them They will serve me or die But oh how I hope they fight I love the fear in their eyes Oh I will take much delight watching all of them cry Ready your weapon! Play me a song of war Open the earth, make them tremble Form our numbers from the rocks and the trees The night is here, we ride as a storm FEAR ME! I COME FOR BLOOD! DESPAIR! YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE! I will take away everything you’ve ever loved and cherished I am the night that’s fallen on your world This is not a game! This is not a game! Welcome to my reign
4.
The Sower 04:44
The Sower Nanabozho: “I’m your father now Your parents are rotting flesh on the ground I give you unending life And freedom to reign Zedekiah, awaken the beast And tame him with your melody Take the children and travel the void The man and his women will already by destroyed Oh they will be destroyed Place the children at the tree And feed them the life of eternity Then find me before He casts me in to darkness again We’ll stop them from going to be with Him” James: “Tonight we meet you man and your fiend In the name of He who fashioned all We’ve traveled long to find the tainted seed That has plagued this land for so long” James and John: “Your plight is in vain for even you Shudder and believe Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear nothing except He who can destroy my soul Oh! My! God! Give us strength to destroy you foe So that your name might be known Through the seeds in us you’ve sown” Nanabozho: “Place the children at the tree And feed them the life of eternity Then find me before he casts me in to darkness again” James and John: ἔξελθε τὸ πνεῦμα τὸ ἀκάθαρτον ἐκ τοῦ ἀνθρώπο (“Come out of the man you unclean spirit!) Nanabozho: “What have they done? I’m burning as if in the sun Though I’m fading, this isn’t my ending I’ll rise again and you will know then That you’re never going to be with Him”
5.
The Widow Maker Darkness descends Ravaging the land And the works of men Can’t put this to an end But lo, a stallion rides in to the midst And seals the evil from within The darkness cannot take his mind But aims to destroy every man in sight Three days of destruction and this noble steed Fights for death to end the darkness bound to him As he falls to the ground A man reaches out And lifts the horses head And speaks to him He rises to his feet The spirit has been made weak The steed has been revived By a blinding light inside Oh and they ride! The lives of those now slain Have not been spent in vain We must gather all of man Against this titan The plans of mice and men are feeble in the end For the Master’s plan is right and is the only way to life The lives of those now slain have not been spent in vain We must gather all of men to war with this titan
